We are industry professionals who have completed thousands of successful EMS missions. We founded LZSO with the goal of fostering safety through the completion of standardized training courses and the adoption of best practices. Throughout our careers, we noticed a lack of consistent procedures at nearly every helicopter-landing zone across the country and recognized that this creates a high-risk situation that could be systematically mitigated. The LZSO courses and content have been created with input from the FAA, experienced pilots, firefighters, police officers and other first responders who may be critical in establishing a landing zone.
Our Mission
Our goal is to provide the knowledge necessary to increase the safety of personnel while they conduct the potentially dangerous, but skilled, task of establishing a helicopter landing zone. Our course focuses specifically on the themes of recurrent training, consistent procedures, and regular program updates to establish a clear industry standard regarding landing zone safety practices. We provide the training to facilitate a safe working environment for all personnel that operate on or around the helipad or scene-landing zone.
Our Vision

Milestones
In September of 2018, our Scene Landing Zone Safety Course was approved by the Minnesota POST Board as a continuing education course for peace officers. Shortly after that approval we gained approval from the North Dakota POST Board as well. We continue to pursue approval nation wide, and we are seeking approval from various organizations that promote education for firefighters as well.
